Missions

Missions are an integral part of the overall philosophy of Andover Baptist Church. At present the church gives over 15% of its overall budget to missions. Our desire is to correctly reflect the principles of Acts 1:8. Beginning at our own Jerusalem and from that foundation extending to Judea, Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth. We currently support 14 missionaries (see below).

Andover Baptist Church supports Missionaries as they spread the Word of God throughout the world and here in the United States.

Marc and Judie Blackwell South Africa ABWE	"Rom 15:30 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;" Missionaries need intercessors more than admirers. They need prayers more than donors. They live and work in the enemy's territory and become the special object of Satan's attack. Support your missionaries by praying for them. Pray for their: Protection from Satanic attack Enablement in life & ministry Flexibility in relationships Attitude of servanthood Compatibility with fellow workers Heart of Love for all men Boldness in preaching Fruitfulness in service Filling with the Holy Spirit Understanding of Culture Discipline in devotional life Proficiency in use of language Patience with others Safety in travel Courage in danger Health in soul & body Support adequate for needs Wisdom to maintain finances Family home life Children at school "Eph 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel," "2Th 3:2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith."	"Pro 25:25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country." The importance of letters written to missionaries is perhaps illustrated for us by the fact that 21 of the 27 New Testament books are letters. God thought letters were important, and when you visit face to face with missionaries, their testimony regarding the value of personal letters comes through loud and clear. What to say (some suggestions): Assure them of your personal and church support. Give them special prayer requests; be specific if you can. Share witnessing opportunities God has given you. Include specific spiritual insights the Lord has given you. Comment on current events, if they are of a positive nature. Women like to hear about weddings, births, style changes, and occasionally appreciate a recipe. They welcome questions about the people they minister to, food, living conditions, culture, evangelistic outreach. Many want to hear about how your life is going at work, at school, at recreation, your hobbies. Feel free to tell them about your interesting friends and good jokes. Remember their birthdays, and anniversaries, etc. Send 2-3 letters before expecting a letter back; they carry a much heavier load than many of us do.
