The Blackwell's, Marc, Judie and Michelle are serving as missionary Church Planters in Cape Town. Their focus is on evangelism, discipleship and Biblical leadership training. We minister in the Afrikaans language, a Dutch dialect.

Marc and Judie planted their first congregation in the United States between 1968 and 1973. We joined I. F. M. in early 1974 and arrived in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe)toward the end of that year. We planted one Independent Baptist Church and assisted in the planting and oversight of a number of others. When the communists took over Zimbabwe (end of 1979) we moved to Durban, South Africa under A.B.W.E. (1980). In Durban we planted a church in Westville and I provided oversight in the planting/development of two other congregations. Their ministry was further expanded when we moved to Cape Town in 1988. Their current church planting ministry, (Tygerberg Baptiste Gemeente) was planted North of Cape Town and is a team effort together with Bryant and Sharan Crane. Judie's ministry in music: solos, duets (with Michelle), through piano and Choir is also a key part of this ministry.

The Blackwells are members of the Faith Baptist Church of Lafayette, Indiana. We have been Church Planting in Africa for 29 years, and have also been used of the Lord in training national leaders through the Church Ministries Institutes (C.M.I.) in Salisbury (Harare), Durban, Johannesburg and, of course, in Cape Town. The C.M.I, is an independent Bible institute that has been state accredited in cooperation with the University of Potchefstroom. Marc is also involved in national leadership training by encouraging Bible-based pastoral counseling, providing apprenticeships for trainee-pastors and involvement in a team-ministry strategy focused on planting churches.

We have three children: The oldest. Marc Jr., together with his wife Nancy, their daughter - Nicole and son - Matthew, are planting the Blue Downs Baptiste Gemeente (church) 25 miles East of Cape Town. Michael, along with his wife Heidi and their sons Tyier and Eric are ministering in church planting and Christian Camping 45 miles North of Cape Town. Michelle has graduated in Missions and Bible and is now serving a third year in the ABWE Assistant Missionary Program (AMP) assisting with youth, and children in two new church planting outreaches near Cape Town.
